Boiler Installs & Repairs
Where a heat pump is not currently suitable for a property, a modern condensing boiler remains the appropriate solution.
Correct sizing is the most important part of the specification. A boiler larger than the property requires will cycle on and off more frequently, which increases running costs and shortens its working life. We calculate the requirement rather than matching the unit that was there previously.
Every installation includes a full system flush, heating controls fitted and demonstrated, manufacturer’s warranty registered on your behalf, and removal of the old appliance and all waste.
Where a boiler has failed, we will tell you honestly how quickly we can attend.
Air source heat pumps
A well designed heat pump system is quiet, efficient and has a long service life. Most of the difference between a system that performs and one that disappoints lies in the design rather than the equipment.
We calculate heat loss room by room and radiators are upsized where the calculation requires it.
A government grant is available towards heat pump installation for property owners. We submit the application on your behalf.
Where a property is not yet suitable, we will say so and explain what would need to change first.
Plumbing Works
We carry out domestic plumbing from individual repairs through to full system replacement.
That includes leaks and repairs, replacement pipework, cylinders and unvented systems, outside taps, appliance connections, and bathroom and kitchen plumbing as part of a wider project.
Where plumbing work sits alongside a heating upgrade, it is usually more efficient and less disruptive to carry out both at the same time. We will tell you where that applies.
Solar PV & battery storage
A solar system performs well when it is matched to how the household actually uses electricity. A larger array is not automatically better, and adding battery storage changes the calculation significantly.
We assess consumption before specifying. Roof orientation, pitch, shading and daily usage pattern all affect the outcome, and the generation estimate we provide reflects those factors rather than ideal conditions.
Every installation includes system design and commissioning, distribution network operator notification, scaffolding and bird protection, export payment scheme registration, and monitoring configured and explained at handover.
Insulation
Improving the building fabric is generally the most cost effective measure available, and it improves the performance of every subsequent measure.
We install loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, internal wall insulation, external wall insulation and room in roof insulation.
Cavity wall insulation is not appropriate for every property. We assess the wall construction and its condition before quoting, because installing it into an unsuitable cavity can cause damp that is expensive to remedy.
Bathrooms & kitchens
We design, supply and install complete bathrooms and kitchens, including all the trades the job requires.
A bathroom or kitchen project typically involves plumbing, electrics, tiling, plastering, flooring and decoration. Managed separately, that means several contractors, several quotations and several opportunities for the programme to slip. We deliver the whole project under one contract.
Where you have already chosen a supplier for the units or the suite, we are happy to install what you have specified. Where you have not, we can handle the supply as part of the quotation.
Roofing
We carry out roof repairs, full re-roofing, flat roofing and all associated works.
That includes replacement tile and slate coverings, flat roof systems, fascias, soffits, guttering and downpipes, chimney work and leadwork, and repairs following storm damage.
Roofing frequently comes up alongside insulation work. Loft and room in roof insulation both depend on the roof above being sound and the space being properly ventilated, and external wall insulation changes the detailing at the eaves. Where we identify roofing work during an energy efficiency survey, we will set it out as part of the same quotation rather than leaving you to arrange it separately.
Extensions
We deliver single and two storey extensions from groundwork through to completion.
That covers the full scope: foundations and groundwork, structural work, roofing, windows and doors, first and second fix, plastering, and finishing. We work alongside your architect and structural engineer, or can advise on appointing them where you have not yet done so.
Building regulations approval and planning permission are part of the process, and we will explain what your project requires before you commit to anything.
New build extensions are built to current energy efficiency standards as a matter of course. Where the existing property would benefit from the same, we will tell you what is worth doing while the work is underway, because it is considerably cheaper to do it then than to return to it later.
Full Refurbishments
We take on whole property renovations as a single contract.
That includes strip out, structural alterations, rewiring, replumbing, heating, insulation, windows and doors, plastering, flooring, kitchens, bathrooms and decoration.
A full refurbishment is the most efficient point at which to deal with the fabric and the heating of a property. Floors are up, walls are open and access is unrestricted. Improvements that would be disruptive and expensive to carry out in an occupied, finished house are straightforward while the property is already stripped back.
For landlords and investors, that also means bringing a property up to the required energy standard as part of the refurbishment rather than as a separate exercise afterwards.
